He didn't even realise what he'd said in his sleep...
From the moment I held my baby daughter Tamara, that was it. I’d never need anyone else so long as I had her. My boyfriend had just walked out on me. I was 16 and a single mum, but looking down at her face, so like mine, I knew no matter what happened I’d never walk out on her.
Over the next 18 years, we went through everything together. We were a team – us against the world.
But when Tamara was 19, I met Carl through friends. When he asked me out, I was wary. It’d been just me and my girl for so long, and I’d been let down in the past.
What if inviting someone else into our lives didn’t work out?
At 25, he was nine years younger than me, too. Yet, as the months wore on and I got to know him, I couldn’t fight the attraction between us.
We’d so much in common, both loved romantic comedies and crime dramas like CSI. I’d found Mr Right.
There was just one more thing I had to do before we made it official. Tamara could sniff out a wrong’un a mile off, so I introduced them to see what she thought.
Thankfully, she gave her seal of approval.
