How to be a Glammy Mammy!

1. Make sure you wear the right underwear to have hidden support in right places. Supportive and smoothing lingerie that fits you properly will make you feel more confident and comfortable, whilst hiding a multitude of sins! Not all good underwear has to look like 'Bridget Jones' pants, there are some glam styles available on the high street.

2. Less is definitely more. It is good to work trends in a subtle way, but don't try to wear them all at the same time. I can't recommend purchasing 'classic pieces' enough, things that suit you and will take you through a few years worth of wear. Classic pieces are timeless and elegant, so you can always add touches of current trends to these looks.

3. Make sure you don't wear to many colours at once, even if colour clashing is a huge trend! Stick to colours that compliment one another and your skin tone.

4. Wear clothes that skim your body (not to tight not to baggy). Along with good underwear, this stylist's technique is a fabulous way to show off your best assets whilst hiding your least favourite areas.

5. Don't wear too much make-up and consider a make-up lesson at a high street counter. Many of the big cosmetics companies offer free make up trials to recommend the best cosmetics for you. Some ask for a fee such as £30 but then take that cost off of any make up that you then buy on the day.

6. Your waistline is in the same exact place it was twenty years ago, so there is no need to wear trousers that come up to your neck or sit way down on your hips. Too high and you risk unsightly bunching of fabric at the crotch or a 'boob shelf' and too low will create the inevitable muffin top. You need trousers and skirts that actually fit to your waist to avoid both of these fashion disasters.

7. It is important to know your shape when deciding which pieces to buy, I can't stress enough that you should only buy items that actually compliment your figure and not just purchase items because you can fit in them. There's a big difference between being able to get into a dress and whether or not it actually suits your shape.

8. One area that a lot of women always seem to get wrong is jewellery. Please don't wear your entire jewellery box at once, but focus on wearing one stand out piece at a time. A good statement necklace can bring an entire outfit together or the right earrings on an evening out will show off your fabulous taste.

9. Unless you are super skinny and work out non stop, it is a good idea to avoid skinny jeans once you reach a certain age. A great cut of jeans or trousers for more mature women is a boot cut or wide leg. A gentle flare will help draw attention away from your mid section and give you a slightly elongated look, which is very flattering.

10. Invest in a couple of fitted (not tight) t-shirts or tanks to wear underneath light weight, knits/sweaters or cotton blazers (remember to skim the body) Great fitting tshirts are the exact type of purchase that you will wear again and again.
